Accessorizing development: Fundraising bracelets for International Development as a New Development Responsibility

Individuals in the Global North wishing to support people South can purchase a fundraising bracelet order ‘change lives’. This article examines use of bracelets for International Development (FBID) as form ‘New Responsibility’. We illustrate through database and critical discourse analysis that FBID campaigns are distinctly feminized version ID aid where women engaged consumers, campaign founders artisans. Our these different roles suggest represent specifically ‘White Saviour Complex’ requiring further exploration, particularly around ‘accessorization’ ID.
